The 11th Annual Fishing and Outdoors Show

All roads lead to the 11th Annual Fishing and Outdoors Show at the Carp Fairgrounds and Arena located in the Village of Carp on April 9th, 10th ,11th, 2010, just minutes north of Scotia Bank Place, home to the Ottawa Senators. Carp Road will take you to the Carp Fairgrounds and Arena Complex. The Valley Fishing and Outdoors Show is BIGGER as we have added yet another show building for this years event.

This years Spring Valley Fishing and Outdoors Show will host more then 100 exhibitors making it the largest Hunting and Fishing Show in Eastern Ontario. With our expansion we will be able to add more exhibitors which will bring new things to see and do.

With Spring our thoughts turn to fishing , turkey hunting, booking trips, bike riding, boating, going to the cottage, and we have it all for you. For the fisherman we will have everything that will help you in all your fishing adventures whether it is for salmon, musky, walleye , bass, trout down to your panfish like the crappie and perch. Looking for adventure our many outfitters will be on hand to provide that fishing or hunting getaway. Fishing can be difficult on the great lakes but with the right equipment you will find your success increase with such things as planer boards, down riggers, triple trees and dipsey divers and we will have it for you along with some good advise which is free.

Turkey season is just around the corner. So what better place to get outfitted and pick up that special item to help harvest that big gobbler and get free advise on how to call, what to wear and where to go. Need a hunting and firearm licence? Then be sure to visit Dave’s Hunter Safety booth or the folks at The Ministry of Natural Resources. New this year, we have expanded our firearm displays to allow you a greater variety of exhibitors to help you find that special piece.

Be sure to check out all the new boats, kayaks and canoes to help you get onto those lakes that hold those many fish. Don’t forget if your spending your summer on the water, you will need your boating licence, and this is the time and place to get it.

Education has always been an important part of our show, and this year is no exception. We will have professionals in their fields on stage to share with you the knowledge to become more skilled and successful in the sport of fishing or hunting.

Introducton to Fly Fishing - Ottawa Flyfishing Society

An overview of the equipment and the basic casting techniques of fly-fishing. The Ottawa Flyfishing Society will provide experienced fly fishers to discuss the set up of fly-fishing gear in preparation to target local species including bass, pike, panfish and trout.  Thundermist Lure Company - Ivo Coia

 Ivo Coia is an avid outdoors man and multi-species angler.  He is the CEO & CFO of Thundermist Lure Company as well as outdoor writer for Thundermist Fishing Tips.  Ivo is the host of the "Thundermist Fishing Tips TV Show" as seen on national television in the USA, on the Sportsman Channel.  You may also have seen Ivo on YOUTUBE, as he has become a partner with YOUTUBE and has all kinds of fishing video's, fishing tips videos, and even some fish cooking videos!  Ivo was a member of the Niagara Bassmasters for many years.  He was awarded the "Boater of the year" award and held such positions as club secretary, Youth Director and Tournament Director as well.  In the past, you may have also seen Ivo at some fishing shows as he was a member of the Quantum - Zebco pro staff for a number of years.  Ivo is a multi-species angler, fishing year round in both fresh water & salt water.  Ivo enjoys both casual fishing as well as tournament fishing, as he has fished many bass and walleye tournaments.  In today's seminar, Ivo will be sharing many tips and different techniques on "weed walleye" - "walleye on the rocks" and "open water walleye"....you're sure to be a pro after this seminar so don't miss it!

On the move - Introduction to Trolling-walleye - Sheldon Hatch

Profile: Sheldon Hatch has a great passion for pursuing walleye, a species that is both challenging and rewarding to catch. He enjoys educating and sharing ‘tips & tricks’ that he has tested and perfected on the Professional Walleye Trail and Masters Walleye Circuit. Sheldon recently had the opportunity to represent Canada in the 2008 PWT Super Pro Can-Am where team Canada defeated the United Sates in a head-to-head walleye tournament format.

 When Sheldon is not on the road fishing a walleye tournament trail he can be found guiding on Ontario waters with his guide service ezelo corporation. During guided trips Sheldon takes pride in teaching professional skills to recreational anglers.

 Sheldon is a member of the National Professional Anglers Association (N.P.A.A. #928) and the Ontario Sportfishing Guides' Association.

TIME TESTED TACTICS - "Big" Jim

“Big” Jim, as he is affectionately known has been an integral part of the Canadian sportfishing scene for over 25 years now and shows no signs of slowing down. Having first gained notoriety as a tournament angler, “Big” Jim was vaulted into the sport fishing spotlight with two CFT Canadian Classics... Canada’s premier tournament title along with a slew of tournament victory’s numbering 28 to his credit.

Following his tournament success, “Big” Jim formed what has become Canada’s largest FREE fishing publication – Just Fishing. This successful publication is presently entering its 15th year of bringing much needed angling information to Canadian and American anglers alike.

Lawrence has fished all his life and is now a semi-professional fisher competing in tournaments, organizing guided fishing adventures, advising the fishing industry on accessibility, and teaching people with vision loss to fish.
